2 Displaced by Belcamp Apartment Blaze: Fire Marshal

Fire at an apartment complex near MD 543 Tuesday caused $50K in damage.

BELCAMP, MD — Two people were displaced after fire broke out in their Belcamp apartment Tuesday morning, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The blaze was ruled accidental, traced to an electrical failure in the bathroom.

A neighbor reported the fire in the 4600 block of Annhurst Drive at 9:01 a.m., officials said. Approximately 25 firefighters responded, bringing the blaze under control within 15 minutes, according to the fire marshal.

Investigators determined the fire caused $25,000 in structural damage; in addition, approximately $25,000 worth of items were lost. While nobody was injured, the two tenants were displaced from the end-unit apartment after the blaze. They were being aided by Harford County Disaster Assistance and the Red Cross.

At 9:15 a.m., the Susquehanna Hose Company, Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and Abingdon Fire Company were reportedly responding to the incident.
