Armed Robbery Attempt Leads To Charges Against Columbia Man
Police said the man who tried to hold up a couple in Columbia was found with two weapons.

COLUMBIA, MD – Police said a Columbia man was arrested after trying to rob people at gunpoint on Broken Land Parkway. The suspect had a loaded assault rifle and a pellet gun on him, according to the Howard County Police Department.
William Alfred Burgess IV, 26, of Swan Point Way in Columbia, was accused of approaching two adults in the 9700 block of Broken Land Parkway, showing them he had a gun and trying to rob them.
According to police, the victims got away in a vehicle.

Upon receiving the report of an attempted armed robbery at 11:50 p.m. on May 6, officers said they found and arrested Burgess, who was charged with attempted armed robbery and weapons offenses.
