Maryland State Police have charged an Essex man with robbing the BB&T Bank in Churchville.

CHURCHVILLE, MD — Maryland State Police have charged an Essex man with robbing the BB&T Bank in Churchville Monday morning. Suspect Keith Stacy Taylor, 38, of Essex, is charged with armed robbery and theft.

Authorities say that shortly after 10 a.m., the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack received a report of a robbery at the bank in the 2900 block of Churchville Road. Witnesses said the suspect, later identified as Taylor, entered the bank, walked up to a teller and asked about opening a checking account. Taylor handed the teller a note informing her of a bank robbery, and left the scene after receiving money from the teller.

A Harford County Sheriff’s deputy soon spotted a white Chrysler Town and Country van being driven by someone who matched witness descriptions of Taylor. A trooper who stopped the van identified Taylor as the driver and saw money in the front seat of the vehicle.
