BALTIMORE'S CLASSIC FIVE GOLF COURSES ANNOUNCE CLIFTON PARK 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Clifton Park Golf Course, which opened in 1915, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year

Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation (BMGC), the nation’s first nonprofit organization dedicated to the management and operation of municipal golf courses, today announced Clifton Park Golf Course, the oldest of BMGC’s Classic Five courses, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2015. The course, which opened for play in 1915, was the first public golf course in Baltimore.

“We are extremely excited to celebrate the centennial for Clifton Park,” said BMGC’s Executive Director Jon Ladd. “We are proud to have such a unique landmark and piece of Baltimore history as part of Classic Five Golf and look forward to celebrating the anniversary throughout the year.”

Classic Five Golf has planned several events throughout the season to celebrate Clifton Park’s historic 100th anniversary. Proceeds from all the events will go toward increasing the number of handicap accessible golf carts at all Classic Five Golf Courses and to the course’s junior golf programs.   • July 13 - Clifton Park Centennial Reunion Golf Outing - A “Captain’s Choice” format reunion outing.
  • September 11 – Guns and Hoses Outing – A golf outing honoring local first responders.
  • October 9 - BMGC Benefit Outing – An event benefitting BMGC’s Classic Five Golf Courses.

With Baltimore City as its backdrop, Clifton Park Golf Course offers golfers beautifully maintained greens, well-manicured fairways and a delightful layout. The 71-par, 5,615-yard course is located at 2701 St. Lo Drive, Baltimore, Md., 21213.

Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation (BMGC), the nation’s first nonprofit organization dedicated to the management and operation of municipal golf courses, has served the local golf community for more than 25 years.
