Bedroom Fire Under Investigation in Harford County

EDGEWOOD, MD — Investigators are working to determine what sparked the fire in a bedroom Tuesday morning near Edgewood, officials reported.
A passerby reported the blaze in the 3000 block of Sounding Drive at 6:06 a.m., according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
When crews arrived at the single-family home, smoke was showing, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

The fire, found in the back bedroom, was quickly extinguished, Gardiner said. Firefighters from Harford and Baltimore counties as well as Aberdeen Proving Ground responded, he noted.
As a result of the blaze, the fire marshal said there was $4,000 in structural damage. Approximately $1,000 worth of items inside the residence were also reportedly lost.
