Bel Air 15-Year-Old Charged After Tagging Dozens Of Sites: Police

Bel Air Police posted a social media alert seeking help identifying a suspect but said the teen has been charged as a juvenile for damage.

BEL AIR, MD – A 15-year-old Bel Air teenager has been arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property, a community spokeswoman said on Monday.

The teen, who was not named, is responsible for dozens of examples of graffiti or tagging around Bel Air, police said. Patti Parker, the community spokeswoman for Bel Air, wrote in an email on Monday that the teenager will be charged as a juvenile and has been released to his parents.

The police department had posted an alert on its Facebook page stating that “this guy likes to ride around on his bike damaging other people’s things.” Parker said that officers witnessed the teenager on surveillance camera footage from a local business and then used a snapshot taken from the video to identify the boy.

The footage was captured on Friday and the boy was arrested without incident at his home on Saturday was charged, Parker wrote in a news release. He was then released to his parents.

Parker said that police do not know the significance of the graffiti that the teenager left on the dozens of sites that he is said to have tagged.
