Bel Air Adds New Heart Sculpture to Collection

The Harford County District Court shares message of community.

There’s a new addition to downtown Bel Air, thanks to the Harford County Cultural Arts Board.

A four-foot heart sculpture was recently installed in front of the District Court Building at 2 South Bond Street.

The heart joins a handful of others sprinkled around town as part of a project to unite the town visually and position it as an arts destination—the “Heart of Harford”—according to the Bel Air Downtown Alliance, which launched the initiative in fall 2012.

Depicting various media from film to painting that flow together on the contours of the heart, the newest sculpture to join the collection is entitled “Creating Community through the Arts.”

Harford County artists Robin Capecci, Alexandra Kopp, Barbara Love and Sandy Norris collaborated on the sculpture, according to a statement from the Harford County Department of Community Services.
