Bel Air To Be Home To Miracle League Baseball Field

A specially designed field on Schucks Road will help ensure children of all abilities get a chance to play ball.

BEL AIR, MD — A field for children with disabilities is being developed at Schucks Regional Park in Bel Air. The initiative is a partnership between Harford County Parks & Recreation and the Miracle League of Harford County.

The Miracle League is a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring children of all abilities have the chance to play baseball. It is a national organization that has a local chapter in Forest Hill.

Harford County Executive Barry Glassman announced that youth with disabilities would have a new place to play ball on a customized field on county land, speaking in his state of the county address in January.

The Harford Miracle League signed a memorandum of understanding with Harford County government recently that outlined the partnership.

The agreement, signed Feb. 12, stipulates that Harford Miracle League will fund and develop a specially adapted baseball field, while Harford County Parks & Recreation will offer programming that will broaden opportunities for those with disabilities.
