Bel Air Businesswoman Dies at 105

The founder of Kefauver Lumber Company—Helen Kefauver—passed away Thursday.

Helen M. Kefauver of Bel Air passed away on Dec. 11. She was 105 years old.

Kefauver founded Kefauver Lumber Company in Forest Hill more than 75 years ago. The company reported that she died in her sleep.

Kefauver contributed to the community through business and beyond throughout her life, recently donating more than 8 acres of land to Harford County Public Schools to augment the Harford Glen campus.

Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14; and 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, at First Presbyterian Church, 224 North Main Street, in Bel Air.

The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, at First Presbyterian Church as well.

Kefauver will be buried at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, 809 Rock Spring Road, according to McComas Funeral Home.

Kefauver Lumber Company announced that it will be closed Monday for the funeral.
