BEL AIR, MD — A $10 lottery purchase turned into a $100,000 prize for a Bel Air couple.

“My husband goes to the store for us all the time,” said a woman identified as "Oliveen" by the Maryland Lottery.

"As a surprise," she said, "he will bring me back some scratch-offs to play because he knows I love them."

On a recent trip to the Macphail Exxon, her husband picked up a ticket for the 50X The Cash game.

After she scratched off the $10 ticket, she said she did not believe how much she won, so she went to the Exxon herself to scan it and received the message: "Congratulations, $100,000 Winner," according to lottery officials.

When she told her family, she said all were calm except her eldest son, who "yelled out over the phone," Oliveen said. "It's all been very exciting."

She reportedly plans to buy a new roof, pay off credit card bills and, if there is any prize money left, share that with her three sons.

The 68-year-old claimed her prize during the week from March 1 to March 7.

Players won or claimed $30.7 million in the last week around the state, according to the Maryland Lottery.
