The 10th annual Bel Air Film Festival will be Oct. 11 to Oct. 13.

From The Town of Bel Air:The Town of Bel Air Arts & Entertainment District, in conjunction with the Bel Air Cultural Arts Commission, announces the 10th Annual Town of Bel Air Film Festival to be held October 11-13, 2018 at the Bel Air Reckord Armory, 37 North Main Street in Bel Air. The festival provides a unique opportunity for the community to gather in a historic venue to view films that challenge thinking and inspire conversation. Thursday, October 11th at 7:30 pm features The Devil We Know. Unraveling one of the biggest environmental scandals of our time, a group of citizens in West Virginia take on a powerful corporation after they discover it has knowingly been dumping a toxic chemical - now found in the blood of 99.7% of Americans - into the drinking water supply. The Devil We Know reveals how two unlikely heroes, a gym teacher and a cattle farmer, took on the corporation while the government looked the other way. Official Selection at the Sundance and Hot Docs Film Festivals. Susan Burdette, Town of Bel Air Mayor, will kick off the evening. Friday, October 12th at 7:30 pm features Kim Swims, an inspiring story of an accomplished open water swimmer’s attempt to become the first woman to swim 30 miles through a stretch of cold, rough and shark- inhabited waters off of the San Francisco coast having overcome unbelievable odds. Through the physically and emotionally challenging lead-up to the swim, the swim itself, and the candid interviews with her and others, the film presents a look into what propels Kim to conquer her fear, pursue her passion and achieve her greatest potential, and hopefully inspire others to do the same. Awarded Audience Favorite at Portland and Mill Valley Film Festivals.

Saturday, October 13th at 7:30 pm features Itzhak which offers a look at the life, work and religious heritage of violinist Itzhak Perlman. The enchanting documentary looks beyond the sublime musician, to see the polio survivor whose parents emigrated from Poland to Israel and the young man who struggled to be taken seriously as a music student when schools saw only his disability. Itzhak is a portrait of musical virtuosity seamlessly enclosed in warmth, humor, and above all, love. Official Selection at DOC NYC and Best of Fest at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
