BEL AIR, MD — Each year on Sept. 11, Bel Air High School features a memorial to remember those who lost their lives in the 2001 terrorist attacks. Students traditionally help install the display, but they are not in school this fall due to the coronavirus.

"The flags were placed this year by volunteers of our staff," Bel Air High School Principal Greg Komondor said in a statement. "We have a sign done by the students, and we have a piece of a beam from Tower 1 out front for the community to see and pause for reflection throughout the day."

One flag is placed for each life lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

"This year it was a much different experience without our students and community being able to participate," Komondor said. "We will never forget the lives that were lost and lives that were changed forever on September 11, 2001. At Bel Air High School, we invite you to drive by the memorial that the students and staff of BAHS do every year in remembrance of 9/11."
