Bel Air Hosts Drive-In Outdoor Movie Night
People can watch a movie together Friday under the stars in Bel Air from their vehicles.
BEL AIR, MD — Movies in Shamrock Park have been a staple of summer, but this year things are different because of the coronavirus pandemic. To prevent the spread of the virus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends maintaining 6 feet of distance between one another if people will be around each other for more than 15 minutes.
To ensure social distancing, the Bel Air Downtown Alliance has moved its summer movie night series from the park to Main Street. Instead of sitting on grass, moviegoers will be in their cars.
"The Bel Air Downtown Alliance is transforming the original Summer Movie Nights into the Drive-In Movies," the alliance said in a statement. "These movie nights are a great time and place to bring the whole family for a fun movie night in downtown."

Cars will be able to park in the lot at 121 South Main Street, with larger vehicles in the back to ensure all have a good view. The cost is $15 for a vehicle to enter the lot. People can park at 8:15 p.m. and shop downtown before the movie, which will begin at 9 p.m.
"We recommend that visitors stay in their vehicles during the movie," the alliance suggests, and masks are recommended during shopping or picking up carryout.
