Bel Air Ice Cream Scooped Up by Washington Post

The newspaper was hot on the trail of Maryland's best ice cream.

A Bel Air farm recently received a visit from The Washington Post, which took a trip along Maryland’s Best Ice Cream Trail.

Broom’s Bloom is one of eight locations on the state’s ice cream trail, which is the Maryland Department of Agriculture’s registry of working farms that produce their own ice cream.

Situated off MD Route 543, Broom’s Bloom serves homemade ice cream and home-cooked meals in a restaurant located near its dairy operation.

The Washington Post writer said on his visit to Broom’s Bloom, he ordered two flavors of ice cream: strawberry-rhubarb (which he described as “still a pleasant treat” despite being more strawberry than rhubarb) and peanut butter (“more intensely flavored and completely satisfying”).

Broom’s Bloom was also given a shout-out recently by radio personality Diane Lyn of 101.9 FM, who said her favorite ice cream flavors at the Bel Air eatery were blueberry muffin, coconut, pistachio and black raspberry.
