Bel Air Newlyweds Win Powerball

A couple cashed in on $50,000 upon returning to Bel Air from their honeymoon.

BEL AIR, MD — Recently, Bel Air newlyweds returned home from their honeymoon to pick up $50,000 in winnings. The Maryland Lottery reports the couple, who called themselves "The Thousandaires," purchased a winning Powerball ticket while preparing for their wedding.

The husband said he was getting his haircut in preparation for the big day when he stopped to get some food. After buying a sandwich for his bride-to-be at Royal Farms, he said he had a few dollars left. He asked the cashier what the Powerball jackpot was and decided to buy a ticket upon learning it was over $200 million, according to Maryland Lottery officials.

During the honeymoon, the groom checked his ticket, which was from Dec. 13.
