Bel Air Police Departments’ Officer Nicholas Rhodes Honored
Officer First Class Nicholas Rhodes was honored with an American Legion Central District Officer of the Year Award.

BEL AIR, Md., (February 23,2022) – During Tuesday night’s virtual commissioner meeting, Officer First Class Nicholas Rhodes was honored with an American Legion Central District Officer of the Year Award. The award was presented to Officer First Class Rhodes by Vice Commander Ed McCann of the American Legion District 3.
“Officer Rhodes is a well-rounded young man. He is clearly dedicated to the country, community, and fellow officers. Nick exemplifies the officers at the Bel Air Police Department, and we are proud of him and proud to have him on our team” Chief of Police Charles Moore stated in response to Officer Rhodes’ recognition.
Noteworthy events cited in the award included Officer First Class Rhodes being personally responsible for several lifesaving efforts over the past two years. Two of those events involved self-initiated Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in which the victims suffered from heart attacks. Without question, his actions saved the lives of both individuals.

Officer First Class Rhodes is a School Resource Officer (SRO) at the Bel Air Police Department, assigned to the Bel Air Middle School. He is an advisor with Bel Air Police Explorer Post 9010 and he serves our country in the capacity of a part-time United States Marine. Officer First Class Rhodes is passionate about policing, serving his community and country, and being a mentor to teens.
Our community is incredibly fortunate to have this dedicated officer saving lives and protecting us while patrolling our streets and schools.
