Bel Air Salon Offers Government Shutdown Deals

NVS Salon in Bel Air is giving a break to federal employees on furlough.

BEL AIR, MD — While the government is shut down and employees are furloughed, one business in Bel Air is offering workers a break. Those who have government IDs showing they are employed by the federal government can get discounted or free services at NVS Salon.

The salon on Main Street is giving free eyebrow waxes for those who are on furlough.

In addition, it is offering half-price haircuts for federal workers.

Virginia and Maryland are two of the top three states in the number of federal workers living there; California has the most federal employees.

According to 2016 government data, Maryland has 130,402 federal workers and Virginia has 136,377. Federal contractors also make up a huge portion of the workforce. State officials say Maryland loses $5 million a day during a federal shutdown.
