Bel Air Shooting Victim Charged With Assault: Officials
A man who was shot in Bel Air is charged after authorities allege he assaulted the individual who pulled the trigger.
BEL AIR, MD — Authorities say a man was shot and injured Friday morning after getting into an argument with his girlfriend and another man in Bel Air. The gunman, who said he feared for his life during the altercation, has not been charged, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
Tyler Reid, 28, of the 500 block of Hoods Mill Road in Woodbine, is charged with second-degree assault, officials say.
Reid had been shot once in the upper body in the 200 block of Foxhall Drive when he was found by deputies who were called for a report of a shooting at 12:59 a.m., authorities reported. The officers provided first aid until medics arrived and took Reid to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Investigators said Reid had been arguing with his girlfriend, who lives in the 200 block of Foxhall Drive, when another man who lived there intervened in the verbal argument, and Reid assaulted him.
Fearing for his life, the 27-year-old man who had been assaulted got a rifle and shot Reid once in the upper body, according to the sheriff's office. Reid was hospitalized with an injury that was not believed to be life-threatening, the sheriff's office reported.

The second-degree assault charge is a misdemeanor, according to court records.
