Bel Air Townhouse Blaze Caused $50K in Damage: Official

Fire broke out in a Bel Air residence Saturday morning, according to emergency officials.

Crews from three fire companies put out a townhouse blaze in Bel Air Saturday morning, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

The cause of the fire was discarded cigarettes, Gardiner said.

Just after 6 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters responded to the 400 block of Ellis Lane, where there was fire in the attic of an end-of-group townhouse.

Upon arrival, crews could see fire venting through the roof, according to Gardiner, who said that they believed the blaze was contained to one home.

Crews from Bel Air, Fallston and Abingdon responded to the incident, according to Gardiner, who said no injuries were reported.

Damage from the fire was estimated to be $50,000, Gardiner said.
