Bernard 'Bernie' Cross, 52
A memorial service for the Abingdon resident is scheduled for Friday.
Bernard ”Bernie” Ellis Cross of Abingdon, passed away Sept. 14. He was 52.
Cross was a celebrated service man, having spent 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring in 2000 as a gunnery sergeant with multiple commendations, according to his obituary.
Friends and relatives are welcome to attend a gathering of friends at Schimunek Funeral Home (610 West MacPhail Road in Bel Air) from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Schimunek Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an animal shelter.
