BEL AIR, MD – Commuters will hit the road on two wheels Friday during the region's 19th annual Bike to Work Day.
Bel Air is hosting one of 30 events in the Baltimore metro area to celebrate the occasion, according to the Baltimore Metropolitan Council, which coordinates them at the regional level. The day is designed to promote bicycle safety and to encourage clean commuting, as spring is the time when ground levels of ozone rise, making the air harder to breathe; according to regional transportation authorities, cutting down on emissions from vehicles helps alleviate this problem.
