Bird Faced Near Death After Swallowing Angler's Fish With Hook Inside At Tydings Park
Harford County Animal Control Officer Krejci helped save a bird's life after it swallowed a fish already caught on an angler's line.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Animal Control Officer Marika Krejci faced a daunting task Thursday. A fisherman contacted Harford County Animal Control around 8:15 a.m. needing help.
The angler was fishing in Tydings Park and when he caught a fish, a Double-Crested Cormorantswooped down and grabbed the fish, but swallowed the hook that was inside the fish.
Krejci transported the "spicy waterfowl" with its razor-sharp beak to Chadwell Vet. X-rays showed how the bird narrowly escaped a traumatizing death, the animal control department posted on Facebook.
