Boat Sinks and Spills 100-Plus Gallons of Fuel: Joppa-Magnolia VFC

Emergency officials were called to investigate a sinking boat Tuesday morning in Harford County.

More than 100 gallons of fuel leaked into the Gunpowder River Tuesday morning after a boat sank, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., firefighters responded to the report of a sunken boat in the area of Breakwater Court, officials said. The Harford County hazmat team, the Maryland Department of the Environment and Maryland Natural Resources Police were also called to the scene to investigate.
