Bel Air Under Winter Weather Advisory

Weather officials say Bel Air residents should be prepared for slippery conditions on the roads Wednesday due to snow and below-freezing temperatures.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory, in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, for the following areas: Harford, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties as well as the District of Columbia.

Approximately 1 to 3 inches of snow may accumulate, according to the weather service, which said snowfall is expected to be heaviest late morning through mid-afternoon.

The winter weather advisory mentioned that northwest and southeast Harford may be more affected than other areas, specifically Jarrettsville and Aberdeen.

State Highway Administration: Consider Delaying Travel

Crews were treating major roads and interstates with salt brine on Tuesday, according to the State Highway Administration, which advised travelers to consider postponing their trips Wednesday morning.

“Make decisions now, such as delaying travel plans, while we take care of clearing roads for your travel,” State Highway Administrator Melinda B. Peters said. “With pavement temperatures expected to be right around freezing or just below, we again ask motorists to take these warnings seriously.”
