Fire Marshal: BOE Building Blaze Caused $100K in Damage
A Board of Education facility in Hickory reportedly had flames coming from the roof when firefighters arrived.
Authorities say fire broke out at the Harford County Board of Education’s storage building in Hickory Monday morning.
There was serious damage—estimated to be at least $100,000 worth—due to the blaze, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
When first responders arrived before 6 a.m., flames were coming from the roof of the commercial building in the 2200 block of Conowingo Road, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company reported.

Bel Air crews reportedly worked with Jarrettsville, Darlington, Abingdon, Fallston and Joppa-Magnolia to fight the fire. By 6:38 a.m., the blaze was under control, according to Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner.
There were no injuries as a result of the blaze, according to the fire marshal, who said there was $50,000 in structural damage and $50,000 worth of damage to the building’s interior.

The fire originated started inside the warehouse, the fire marshal reported. The cause was under investigation.

Traffic was detoured temporarily in the area of MD 543 and US 1 Monday morning. By 8:30 a.m., roads in the area had reopened.
