Fire Breaks Out At Car Wash Under Construction In Abingdon

ABINGDON, MD — A building under construction was the site of a fire in Abingdon Tuesday afternoon, officials said. At 3;25 p.m., crews said they were dispatched to the fire on Emmorton Road/MD 924.

The Abingdon Fire Company led the response to the fire, which was reported near Box Hill South Parkway.

Firefighters found insulation burning from welders at a building that is going to become a car wash, according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.

A car wash and AAA car care center are slated for development in the area, near Box Hill South Parkway. The Canton Car Wash is planning for a September 2018 opening.
