C. Milton Wright Recognized as Eco-School
CMW is one of 16 high schools designated as a 'green school' in the U.S.
BEL AIR, MD — One high school in Bel Air recently received an international award when it was designated as an Eco-School. The National Wildlife Federation presented C. Milton Wright with the recognition, which is given to institutions that promote environmentally sound practices. CMW is one of 16 high schools in the country that have been designated as an Eco-School, according to Harford County Public Schools.
The National Wildlife Federation presented CMW with the award, which comes with a "Green School" flag in recognition of the school's contributions to creating green communities. To receive the designation, students must participate in the process of promoting environmentally sustainable practices at their school.
All Eco-Schools must undergo a multi-step process that involves creating an Eco-Committee, conducting a review of the school, coming up with a plan for improvement, monitoring and assessing progress, integrating the program into the curriculum, informing and involving the community and coming up with an Eco-Code, according to the United National Environmental Program, which helps coordinate the initiative.
