Census 2020 at Harford Community College

There will be an opportunity to complete the census and assistance will be available if needed.

As part of National Library Week, the Harford Community College Library will host Chastity Durham-Miller, Partnership Specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau, who will discuss the importance and progress of the 2020 U.S. Census. There will be an opportunity to complete the census and assistance will be available if needed. Presentations will be held on Tuesday, April 21, from 9:30 to 10:50 AM in the Student Center, Room 243, and Thursday, April 23, from 12:45 to 2 PM in the Library, Room 214. Both events are free and open to the public. Convenient, free parking is available in campus lots.

Ms. Durham-Miller will also be on campus on Wednesday, April 22, from 11:30 AM to 3 PM on the 2nd floor of the Student Center, recruiting for census workers.

The census, conducted once every ten years, is the constitutionally-required count of every person living in the United States. It determines representation in Congress and the Electoral College and is the basis for drawing districts for federal, state, and local offices. The census determines the allocation of hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding to states and localities.

National Library Week, which takes place April 20-24 this year, is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. During the week, Harford Community College invites all community members to find their place at the library and join us for a presentation about the enormous impact the U.S. Census could have on HCC, Harford County, and Maryland.

Our goal is to make all materials and services accessible. If you need disability-related accommodations to participate, please contact HCC Library at least ten calendar days in advance. For further information or for accommodations, call 443-412-2316.
