FALLSTON, MD — More than two dozen firefighters helped battle a blaze at a Fallston home that's been blamed on the lithium ion battery in a rechargeable headlamp that was actively charging in a bedroom.
The fire broke out April 2 around 2:38 a.m. at the home located at 2200 Queensbury Drive in Fallston. The Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company took five minutes to gain control of the fire, which was discovered by the owners who were asleep and awoke to the smell of smoke. The owner used a garden hose to try and stop the spread of the fire until he was overcome with smoke, according to the state fire marshal's office.
The one-story ranch sustained $25,000 damage to the structure and $25,000 in loss of property.
