Two residents have been displaced after their Edgewood home's chimney sparked a fire in the attic, causing $200K in damages, content loss.

EDGEWOOD, MD — A chimney fire spread to a home's attic Saturday night, causing upwards of $200,000 in damage and loss of contents.
The fire broke out around 9:39 p.m. at a two-story, single family home located in the 3400 block of Albantowne Way. Around 46 firefighters from Abingdon Fire Company and Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company battled the blaze, which took 20 minutes to control.
According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, the owners were enjoying a fire in their fireplace, but heard a sudden popping sound followed by smoke. As the owner was checking on the situation, a neighbor across the street saw heavy fire at the top of the chimney where it quickly spread to the attic.
