Chocolate Festival Features Cake Walk, Ice Cream Sundae Bar, Treats To Take Home

The 13th annual Chocolate Festival will be held Valentine's Day, featuring a chocolate river of dipped strawberries and a treats table.

ABERDEEN, MD — Celebrate Valentine's Day with the 13th annual Chocolate Festival hosted by Grace United Methodist Church.

The fun kicks off at 10 a.m. at the church, which is located at 110 W. Bel Air Ave. This year's theme happens to be Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Guests will marvel at the chocolate river of dipped strawberries, construct and devour the ultimate dessert at the ice cream sundae bar, and stroll through the Oompa Loompa cake walk.

There will be hot cocoa available with an assortment of toppings at the hot cocoa bar, and a sweet treats table loaded with hundreds of goodies to buy and take home. Hot dogs and chili will be available for lunch.

"This is a fundraiser for our church, but also so much more. Every year, we look forward to seeing neighbors from our community, some come every year, and it's a first time experience for others," Felicia Meshew, a member of Grace UMC who is in her first year of organizing the holiday fundraiser, told Patch.

Many people in the congregation are involved in the planning and executing of the highly anticipated chocolate festival. Visitors might even spy Willy Wonka or an Oompa Loompa wandering around the festival, Meshew said.

"We also have family-themed raffle items and vendors with handmade items. I think everyone should stop in and check it out," Meshew told Patch. "Join us and make this Valentine's Day sweet for you and your family."
