Condolences to Harford Sheriff's Office Span Continent

After two deputies were killed, agencies near and far sent their prayers to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Law enforcement officials around the region and North America reached out to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office after two deputies were killed Wednesday in a shootout in Abingdon.


Harford Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said the amount of support from partners had been “overwhelming” in response to the shootings.

“We needed help, and in our time of need, the response was overwhelming,” Gahler said at a press conference Thursday morning. “Law enforcement turned out in such terrific numbers for us yesterday....it’s a brotherhood that is unmatched in anything I’ve experienced.”

Firefighters, emergency services, State Highway officials and other agencies assisted as well, he said with gratitude.

Support continued to pour into the sheriff’s office after news spread that the two wounded deputies succumbed to their injuries.
