Conowingo Dam Temporarily Closed Thursday for Freezing Spray

The Conowingo Dam was closed briefly Thursday afternoon, according to the State Highway Administration.

After 2 p.m., state highway officials said that US 1 was closed across the dam for freezing spray and drivers were advised to take alternate routes between Cecil and Harford counties.

By 2:30 p.m., the dam had reopened, the State Highway Administration reported.

Temperatures were in the single digits with wind chill, according to the National Weather Service.
