Controlled Burn Planned for APG on Tuesday
Aberdeen Proving Ground may get smoky on Tuesday, April 5.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD – There may be smoke in the area of Aberdeen Proving Ground on Tuesday, April 5.
The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center and APG Department of Emergency Services are planning a controlled burn to manage downrange areas on the military installation.
The purpose of a prescribed burn is to minimize the risk of wildfires and keep the land usable for training activities, according to a statement from Aberdeen Proving Ground officials.

Because of unexploded ordnances on the base, authorities say controlled burning is the most affordable and safest way to maintain the vicinity.
APG officials say they will make an effort to keep smoke from affecting residential areas on Aberdeen Proving Ground and surrounding communities on Tuesday during the controlled burn.
