Court Dismisses Visit Harford’s Breach of Contract Claim Against Harford County

Judge grants county's request to pursue damages.

Circuit Court Judge W. Michel Pierson today dismissed the breach of contract claim against Harford County brought by the tourism marketing corporation Visit Harford Inc. and placed Visit Harford in default on a counterclaim brought by Harford County.

Harford’s counterclaim is based on Visit Harford’s failure to account for its use of taxpayer dollars and failure to perform services and provide its work product to the county as required under contract. The court will allow Harford County to present evidence of damages sustained by the county as a result of Visit Harford’s breach of contract, which the county intends to do.

“I would like to thank our legal team for their diligence in protecting taxpayer dollars,” County Executive Bob Cassilly said. “The unfortunate actions of Visit Harford in its failure to properly account for tax dollars should in no way reflect on the many wonderful hotels, venues, and attractions our county has to offer. My administration has moved tourism marketing in-house under the branding Hello Harford and we are supporting these local businesses and welcoming thousands of visitors to our beautiful county.”
