Home Business 'Cozy Cookies' Survives Pandemic, Opens Sunday At Bel Air Armory Marketplace
A home-based cookie business launched before the pandemic not only survived but thrived the economic downturn to open a storefront Sunday.
BEL AIR, MD — Shortly before the coronavirus pandemic halted the world as we know it, Steve Anderson and Shannon Peterson began baking cookies as part of Anderson's business classes he was taking. But when the pandemic struck, selling and delivering cookies ended up being a lifesaver.
"We decided to bake and sell the cookies out of our home and deliver them through COVID," Anderson told WMAR. "All of this was learned on YouTube and through so much testing and eating cookies. I’ve probably gained 50 pounds since we started this business."
They called their company Cozy Cookies and in 10 weeks' time during the pandemic, they sold 10,000 cookies. Once life returned to the new normal, the couple moved their business out of their home kitchen and into Bmore Kitchen, a co-working space for food entrepreneurs.

In the past two years, the entrepreneurs have baked and sold more than 200,000 cookies. They've added more flavors for a total of 12, with two specialty flavors offered each month.
The next step in Cozy Cookies' journey is to open at Armory Marketplace April 2. They'll be open Wednesday through Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and will deliver to certain zip codes in Harford County. They also will ship nationwide.
