Craig Declares State of Emergency for Harford County

Gov. Martin O'Malley declared a state of emergency Thursday for Maryland.

(UPDATE 5:44 p.m.)—County Executive has declared a state of emergency, effective immediately.

This comes one day after Gov. declared a .

Shelter will be available at beginning at noon Saturday. If more spaces are needed, will be made available, followed by North Harford High School.

The county is expected to received between 3 and 6 inches of rain, according to an alert from Rick Ayers, emergency manager for Harford County.

"Some reports indicate the possibility of large waves battering the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay," Ayers said in a phone message. "Therefore, if you own a boat please take appropriate actions."

All county parks and facilities are closed beginning at midnight until further notice. The emergency information hotline will begin operating at 7 a.m. Saturday at 410-838-5800.
