Crash Near Conowingo Dam Requires Medevac: SHA

The crash near Conowingo Dam has reportedly cleared.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A crash requiring a medevac response near the Conowingo Dam Friday briefly closed the area to traffic, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. The crash happened on US 1 at MD 623, state transportation officials reported.

The intersection at Route 1 and Route 623/Castleton Road was shut down before 6 p.m., authorities said.

All lanes were closed in both directions, the State Highway Administration reported at 5:45 p.m. At the time, officials said that a medevac was en route.

The Darlington Volunteer Fire Company said that there were actually multiple crashes. Its crews handled two collisions in the area of Route 1 between Castleton Road and the Conowingo Dam around 5:30 p.m., which closed the road.

By 6:15 p.m., all lanes had reopened, according to authorities.
