Daniel Samis, 67, of Abingdon, passed away suddenly on Sept. 1. Born in Lemon, South Dakota, he was the son of George Irwin and Katherine Elizabeth (Hand) Samis.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 29 years and was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where he was active with the Knights of Columbus.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Samis is survived by former wife, Donna; son, Patrick George; daughter, Erika Anne; siblings, Joseph, Mark, James, Sean, Peter, Gregory, Kevin, and Judith; step brothers, Aaron and Benjamin; stepmother, Jean; and cousin, Laura.

A memorial service was held on Sept. 8 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Abingdon.
