Driver Killed in Abingdon Crash into Telephone Pole: Police

A 23-year-old Harford County man died early Friday morning on Route 7, Maryland State Police reported.

ABINGDON, MD – Authorities are investigating a deadly crash in Abingdon that occurred early Friday morning.

Christian Serrano, 23, of Edgewood, had been headed west on MD 7/Philadelphia Road at Governor Court when his 2013 Honda crossed the double yellow line, went off road and hit a telephone pole on the east side of Philadelphia Road, according to Maryland State Police.

At 12:09 a.m., troopers from the Bel Air barrack responded as did officials from Abingdon Fire Company, who took Serrano by ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where police said he was pronounced deceased.

Serrano was the only person inside the car, according to police.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminarily, police said the reason the car crossed over the double yellow line was unknown.
