Drug Take-Back Boxes Being Phased Out By Harford County Sheriff's Office

The popular drug take-back boxes administered by the Harford County Sheriff's Office are ending and 4 drug take-back days will be planned.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Community members wanting to use the drug take-back boxes organized by the Harford County Sheriff's Office should note that the boxes are being phased out and instead, the sheriff's office will be hosting four drug take-back days per year.

According to the sheriff's office, the drug take-back boxes have been regularly overflowing with items, which has led to a risk of misuse and mishandling of the items.

"We want to ensure the safe disposal of prescription and unused drugs, which is why we are adopting a more efficient and secure method," the office noted.
