Due to Power Outage, Bel Air Elementary Dismisses Early

Students will be let out earlier than usual on Thursday, Harford County Public School officials reported.

Bel Air, MD – Because of utility issues, some students in Bel Air will be going home early on Thursday.

School officials announced Thursday afternoon that Bel Air Elementary School students would be dismissed at 1:15 p.m.

The reason for the early dismissal was "power outages that cannot be resolved..."

Full Statement from Harford County Public Schools:

Due to power outages at the school that cannot be resolved at this time, all Bel Air Elementary School students will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. today,Thursday, June 9, 2016. Special Education bus 324 will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. There will be no afternoon Pre-K. After school and evening activities, including evening daycare and parks and rec, are cancelled. Students will receive lunch prior to dismissal.

Parents/guardians should be aware that due to the power outage, all phones are down at the school so changes to the dismissal process cannot be made.

BGE is onsite; at this time, it is believed that the source of the outage is a blown fuse on a telephone pole as well as an underground wire or cable that is connected to the school.
