DUI Checkpoint Planned In Harford County
There's another reason not to drink and drive in Harford County next weekend.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Authorities will be conducting a checkpoint next week in Harford County. Law enforcement officers will be on the lookout for those who are driving while intoxicated.
The checkpoint will take place during the evening hours on Friday, Aug. 24, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
The time and location were not disclosed.

Drinkers are encouraged designate a sober driver or get the Safer Ride app, which is sponsored by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and pulls up taxi services in the area.

By law, the sheriff's office has to announce the checkpoint to curb impaired driving.
Following a Supreme Court case regarding the 4th and 14th Amendments to the Constitution, the court ruled that citizens' rights to security against unlawful search and seizure are not violated if the checkpoint is publicized in advance.
