DUI Patrol In Bel Air Prompts 'Thank You' From Sheriff's Office
Deputies say thank you to the community for putting safety first, calling for rides.

BEL AIR, MD — The Harford County Sheriff's Office wrote a thank-you note to the community on Monday for keeping the roads safe during the St. Patrick's Day weekend festivities.
There were 18 law enforcement officers stationed around Bel Air between noon on Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday, officials reported.
During the saturation patrol, there were seven DUI arrests reported among the Bel Air Police Department, Maryland State Police and the Harford County Sheriff's Office, officials said.

In 2016, Harford County deputies alone arrested seven people for DUI on St. Patrick's Day, not taking into consideration what Bel Air police or state troopers yielded.
"Instead of drunk drivers, our law enforcement officers overwhelmingly encountered more taxis and Uber drivers," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Thank you Harford County for helping keep us all safe this year!
