DWI Checkpoint On Tap In Harford County Friday: Sheriff

The Harford County Sheriff's Office has announced when officers will be checking for drunk/drugged drivers.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — There will be a checkpoint this week in Harford County where deputies will be looking for those driving while intoxicated (DWI).

The DWI checkpoint will be held the night of Friday, April 7, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities did not disclose the location where the checkpoint will occur.

In Maryland, the legal blood alcohol level for alcohol consumption is .08 percent.

By law, the sheriff's office has to announce the checkpoint; following a Supreme Court case regarding the 4th and 14th amendments to the Constitution, the court ruled that citizens' rights to security against unlawful search and seizure are not violated if the checkpoint is publicized in advance.
