DWI Checkpoint In Harford County Scheduled For March
Officials say they will be looking to take intoxicated drivers off the roads in Harford County.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — There will be a sobriety checkpoint the weekend before St. Patrick's Day in Harford County, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the driving while intoxicated (DWI) checkpoint is planned for the evening of Saturday, March 14.
The legal blood alcohol limit in Maryland is .08.

Being arrested for driving while impaired can lead to jail time, classes, license suspension and expenses exceeding $10,000, according to authorities.
By law, authorities have to announce the sobriety checkpoint.

Following a Supreme Court case regarding the 4th and 14th Amendments to the Constitution, the court ruled that citizens' rights to security against unlawful search and seizure are not violated if the checkpoint is publicized in advance.
Those who plan on drinking should designate a sober driver or get the Safer Ride app, sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which pulls up area taxi services.
