Edgewood Apartment Blaze Started on Floor: Fire Marshal

EDGEWOOD, MD – Smoking materials sparked a fire inside an Edgewood apartment Wednesday night, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported Thursday.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a neighbor discovered the fire in the 300 block of Edgewood Road, and the Abingdon Fire Company brought the blaze under control within five minutes, the fire marshal reported.

There was approximately $500 in damage to the apartment, where smoking materials had ignited the carpeted floor, according to the fire marshal.

Nobody was injured as a result of the blaze.
