The home located at 304 Canoe Lane in Edgewood caught fire around 8:16 a.m. Thirty firefighters with the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company arrived and spent half an hour battling the blaze, which caused an estimated $200,000 in damage and loss of contents, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
The incident is being investigated by the state fire marshal and currently, the preliminary cause has been identified as "incendiary" by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, which by definition means "a fire that has been deliberately ignited under circumstances in which the person knows the fire should not be ignited."
