Edgewood House Fire Injures Man, Causes $75K in Damage: Fire Marshal

One resident suffered second-degree burns, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported.

A man was injured and his family displaced as the result of a house fire in Edgewood early Tuesday morning, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The cause of the blaze was cooking left unattended, the fire marshal reported.

At 12:51 a.m. on Tuesday, a resident discovered fire in the kitchen in the 500 block of Arum Court, according to the report.

Approximately 30 firefighters—from Abingdon, APG, Bel Air and Joppa-Magnolia—responded and brought the fire under control within 10 minutes, the fire marshal said.

A man was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview with second-degree burns to his hands and feet, according to the fire marshal.

There was $35,000 in damage to the two-story, single-family home, the fire marshal reported. In addition, approximately $40,000 worth of items inside the home were lost, according to the report.

The fire marshal said the blaze was ruled accidental.

Due to the damage, the family was being assisted by family members, according to the report.
