Edgewood Man Charged in Shooting That Injured 2: Sheriff

Authorities say a second suspect is still at large; there is a reward for information.

EDGEWOOD, MD — One person is in custody and a second suspect remains at large in connection with a weekend shooting in Edgewood, officials say.

Oneil Denovan Chambers, 38, of the 400 block of Oak Street in Edgewood, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault.

Chambers was arrested Saturday night related to a double shooting around 10:15 p.m. Friday outside a residence in the 400 block of Gateshead Court in Edgewood, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said two suspects approached two men who had been sitting outside a residence and when the men tried to go into the home, one of the suspects fired a single bullet that hit both victims, officials said.

The victims were in serious but stable condition after the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company took them to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment, according to authorities. One victim, a 39-year-old man, was shot in the lower body. A 35-year-old man was shot in the upper torso, officials reported.

Anyone with information is about the crime is asked to call Detective Chris Maddox at 410-409-3551.

While investigators said they quickly identified Chambers as a suspect with help from southern district patrol deputies, a second suspect is still at large. The suspects were described as two black men.
